Multiple outlets are now reporting that special counsel Robert Mueller has delivered his final report on the Russia investigation to the Department of Justice.
The same has been reported by NBC News and AP reporters.
Likely, the nation will now endure an excruciating period of waiting and speculating about what’s in the report. Attorney General William Barr has the authority to decide what parts of Mueller’s report get communicated to Congress and elsewhere.
Barr writes to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees: "I write to notify you pursuant to 28 C.F.R. 600.9(a)(3) that Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III has concluded his investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election and related matters."
Story still developing…
Contact your congressional members and urge them to make the Mueller report public.
Here’s the letter from Barr.
Here's some points from Barr's letter:
- Barr says there were "no such instances" in which the Attorney General or acting Attorney General concluded an action by the special counsel was "inappropriate or unwarranted."
- Barr is reviewing the report and "may be in a position to advise [Congress] of the Special Counsel's principal conclusions as soon as this weekend."
- Barr intends to consult with Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and Mueller to determine "what other information from the report can be released to Congress and the public consistent with the law."
