If you're anything like my students, then February hits you hard. The days are short, and, even when the sun is supposed to be out, it seems more likely to hide behind a cloud than to try to warm up the earth. The sheen of the new year has worn off and summer can seem far away.
This is why I thought we might take a second and reboot, to remember why we're working so hard for November. For me, this rebooting involved thinking back to the teachers' rally in Richmond.
We Care. We Fight. We Show Up. This is the slogan of the American Federation of Teachers, of which I am a member. They put together an amazing video of the rally, and I added it below (yours truly even makes a cameo!). I hope it inspires you as much as it inspires me. Most of all, I hope it reminds you of why we fight and of why it is so crucial that we flip the General assembly in November. We will not rest until we fully fund our schools and until we guarantee that every child in the Commonwealth has access to a first-class education.
Yours,
Ronnie
