The Trump organized crime family has filed a lawsuit in US District Court in attempt to slow or block Deutsche Bank and Capital One to responding to Congressional subpoenas, which the Trumps claim have “no legitimate or lawful purpose.”
More news as it becomes available, but for now some background. Earlier this month, the House’s Intelligence and Financial Services subpoenaed records relating to the Trump Family from Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Citigroup. The House committees are investigating money laundering.
“The potential use of the U.S. financial system for illicit purposes is a very serious concern,” Representative Maxine Waters, the chairwoman of the Financial Services Committee, said in a statement. She added that the panel was “exploring these matters, including as they may involve the president and his associates, as thoroughly as possible pursuant to its oversight authority, and will follow the facts wherever they may lead us.”

The Washington Post story has a response from the House chairs.
The lawsuit against Deutsche Bank, which has loaned Trump more than $360 million in recent years, and Capital One are designed to prevent the two institutions from providing records to the House Intelligence and Financial Services committees. The panels are led by Reps. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), respectively. […]
Schiff and Waters condemned the lawsuit in a joint statement, calling it a legal ploy to “put off meaningful accountability as long as possible."
“The meritless lawsuit filed today by President Trump to block duly authorized subpoenas to nongovernmental entities is another demonstration of the depths to which President Trump will go to obstruct Congress’s constitutional oversight authority,” the Democrats said. “As a private businessman, Trump routinely used his well-known litigiousness and the threat of lawsuits to intimidate others, but he will find that Congress will not be deterred from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.”
They added, “This unprecedented stonewalling will not work, and the American people deserve better.”
