The Republican Party, as the minority party in Congress, is allowed to choose its own witnesses for hearings. Today, the House Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing to discuss the foreign and domestic threat that is the white supremacist movement. Committee Republicans invited that weak-minded huckster Candace Owens, who found a conservative money-making niche in promoting the concept of “Blexit,” or black people exiting the Democratic Party to join … the Candace Owens Ponzi scheme, I guess?
Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu of California was pretty interested in understanding why, “Of all the people the Republicans could have selected,” they decided to choose Owens for a hearing concerning the white supremacist movement. Why indeed? Rep. Lieu said he wasn’t going to “characterize” Owens, but instead he would “let her own words do the talking,” at which point he played a recording of her insane comments to an audience in London for her on his phone. Owens’ face showed quite a bit of what I’ll characterize as “chagrin.”
Owens: I actually don’t have any problems at all with the word “nationalism.” I think that the definition gets poisoned by elitists that actually want globalism. Globalism is what I don’t want, so when you think about whenever we say nationalism, the first thing people think about, at least in America, is Hitler.
He was a national socialist. But if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, okay, fine. The problem is that he wanted, he had dreams outside of Germany. He wanted to globalize. He wanted everybody to be German, everybody to be speaking German. Everybody to look a different way. To me, that’s not nationalism. In thinking about how we could go bad down the line, I don’t really have an issue with nationalism. I really don’t. I think that it’s okay. It is important to retain your, your country’s identity and to make sure, umm, that what’s happening here, which I think is incredibly worrisome in terms of just the … the decrease in the birth rate that we are seeing here in the U.K. is what you kind of want to avoid. So, I’m not … I don’t have a big problem … I have no problem with nationalism, it’s globalism that I try to avoid.
Owens has attempted to “clarify” her comments, which she says the “left-wing” media has taken out of context. Here’s some context.
It’s one of the top reasons we fight Trump.
And here’s video of Ms. Owens promoting the kind of white supremacist bullshit that now passes for mainstream conservatism.
