There are many failed politicians and corrupting influences who’ve attached their tentacles to the Grifter-in-Chief, many looking to revive their flatlining careers. One such character is Kris Kobach, the former Kansas secretary of state whose primary job seemed to be making sure certain kinds of Kansans did NOT vote, before he flamed out and lost a gubernatorial race in Kansas to Democrat Laura Kelly. Even Republicans in Kansas voted against Kobach, having had enough of his extremism, especially when it came to immigration and voting rights. After all, Kobach was the architect of the most racist law in modern American history, Arizona’s S.B. 1070, which allowed police to stop people of color and/or anyone with an accent and detain them indefinitely, including children, until they prove their citizenship. A family could be going out for ice cream and find themselves in an Arizona jail indefinitely unless they carried the proper paperwork. Kobach had hoped to spread these laws nationwide. As local governments did try to pass these laws, which were found to be unconstitutional, guess who was hired to come in and defend these laws? You got it. Kris Kobach was privately billing these towns for his legal services. The Kansas City Star interviewed people who’d been swindled by Kobach’s immigration racket.
“Ambulance chasing” is how Grant Young, a former mayor of Valley Park, describes Kobach’s role. Young characterized Kobach’s attitude as, “Let’s find a town that’s got some issues or pretends to have some issues, let’s drum up an immigration problem and maybe I can advance my political position, my political thinking and maybe make some money at the same time.”
Not surprisingly, Kobach has also palled around with white nationalists, notable dirtbags like Ted Nugent and most notably, Donald Trump, who named Kobach to his presidential transition team and later to his now disbanded voter integrity commission, which found no fraud and had to close up shop as Kobach’s claims of millions of fraudulent votes became a national joke.
So, where is Kobach now? He’s floated the idea of running to replace retiring Senator Pat Roberts in Kansas, but the anti-Kobach sentiment is so strong, even in his own party, that national Republicans have vowed to intervene in the race to elevate another candidate, anyone but Kobach.
Someone who really, really doesn’t like Kris Kobach leaked a list of demands he has for another job he’s seeking—he wants to take his racist talents to the White House for a Trump-created position of “Immigration Czar.” The New York Times published the list. Look what this pompous, racist grifter wants in exchange for being the lead racist in the Trump White House:
Kris Kobach’s Conditions for Becoming Immigration Czar
Mr. Kobach submitted the following list of demands during discussions for an administration post.
- 1. Office in the West Wing.
- 2. Walk-in privileges with the president.
- 3. Assistant to the President rank - at highest pay level for WH senior staff.
- 4. Staff of 7 people (2 attorneys, 2 research analysts, 1 scheduler, 1 media person, 1 assistant).
- 5. POTUS sits down individually with Czar and the secretaries of Homeland Security, Defense, Justice, Ag, Interior, and Commerce, and tells each of the Secretaries to follow the directives of the Czar without delay, subject to appeal to the President in cases of disagreement.
- 6. 24/7 access to either a DHS or DOD jet. Czar must be on the border every week.
- 7. Ability to spend weekends in KS with family on way from border back to DC, unless POTUS needs Czar elsewhere.
- 8. Security detail if deemed necessary after security review.
- 9. Serve as the face of Trump immigration policy - the principal spokesman on television and in the media.
- 10. Promise that by November 1, 2019, the president will nominate Kris Kobach to be DHS Secretary, unless Kobach wishes to continue in Czar position.
A private jet available for his use 24/7! A promise for a cabinet position! Demanding he be the “face of Trump immigration policy” on national news. Yeah, he’s the face all right—he’s the face of failure.
The New York Times spoke with three people who confirmed the list was real, a list which no doubt came from Republicans themselves, leaked to humiliate and thwart Kobach once again. It’s unlikely Trump would put him in the White House now, but will Kobach take a hint and squash anymore talk of running for the U.S. Senate? If he does, it seems his own party is willing to go to great lengths to stop him. If Republicans can’t stop him, there is a chance Kansas voters will. Kansas Democrats would do well to put forth the very best candidate available because there could be some daylight there if Kobach runs.
