I haven’t lived in New York since, like about half my high school graduating class, I left the state to go to college and ended up with a career and a lifetime spent in in the hinterlands. However, in many ways I will be a New Yorker until my dying day. There’s a certain sensibility, and yes the snobbish reflected in the cover on the right, which comes from having grown up in New York.
If you are like me you know what I mean.
As a displaced New Yorker who has lived his adult life in Michigan, Massachusetts, and now Oregon I am so proud of Letticia James and “my state” for taking on the most powerful person in the world.
Read what The Hill had to say in “Trump gets powerful new rival in Letitia James.”
Excerpt:
In recent weeks, James’s office has sought bank records relating to the Trump Organization and its affiliates. She has continued a lawsuit brought by her predecessor against the now-defunct Trump Foundation, alleging violations of federal and state laws governing nonprofits.
Her office has joined or spearheaded some of the dozens of lawsuits against the Trump administration’s most controversial plans, including efforts to add a new question on citizenship status to the 2020 census and a plan to build a wall along the border with Mexico.
“As the next attorney general of [Trump’s] home state, I will be shining a bright light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings, and every dealing, demanding truthfulness at every turn,” James said in November.
Do you agree that the word “rival” (a person competing with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity”) is an understatement considering that Trump can’t stop James’ investigations. All he can do is try to impede the New York State Attorney General’s office with his own lawsuits. He can’t stop General James. Once more, with feeling:
He can’t stop General James.
If he thinks he has the resources to take the Empire State on whether he’s still president or a civilian he should think again. New York State has virtually unlimited resources to devote to investigating and prosecuting Trump and his enterprises.
Consider the last paragraph from The Hill:
“The New York attorney general’s office, because it’s not a federal office, because it’s not subject to a federal pardon, is going to play a significant role in upholding the rule of law in this country,” said D.C. Attorney General Karl Racine, co-chair of the Democratic Attorneys General Association. “There’s no doubt that she’s got standing. There’s no doubt that she’s got the proper venue. All the alleged wrongdoings happened in New York.”.
The man who fancied himself the King of The Big Apple wouldn’t end up as the most famous resident of one of these lovely facitities though New York has many minimum security prisons where he and his cabal could be incarcerated.
Fishkill (below) would be a good choice for The Donald if he goes stark raving mad because it houses inmates who also need psychiatric care.
