Riot police turned downtown Hong Kong into a tear-gas covered battlefield as they pushed back against protesters who tried to storm Hong Kong’s Legislative Council. The protesters, angry at an extradition bill that would allow people to be sent to mainland China for trial, hurled bricks, bottles and umbrellas as they clashed with the police, as the demonstrations intensified on Wednesday afternoon.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 1978, commonly referred to as the "Save Chick-Fil-A bill," into law on Monday.
The bill originally came up after the San Sntonio City Council blocked Chick-Fil-A from opening a location in the airport due to reported donations to organizations that protest gay marriage and other LGBTQ issues.
A man who fell 800 feet into the Crater Lake caldera on Monday afternoon was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter crew out of North Bend, Oregon. [...]
When the aircrew arrived at 4:28 p.m., a rope rescue team was already 600 feet down into the caldera and reporting they could hear a man yelling from farther down. [...]
The Coast Guard did not provide an update on the man’s condition early Tuesday morning but said he was able to walk after the rescue.
