The best antidote to hot takes about current events is hard data, and the June Daily Kos/Civiqs poll is here with your medicine.
This month’s survey reveals that a whopping 63% of Americans would not vote for a candidate who does not share their views on abortion.
Other noteworthy findings include:
-
54% of Americans are more likely to support candidates if they refuse to accept campaign contributions from PACs.
-
55% of Americans believe Trump’s trade stances will hurst farmers.
-
98% of frequent Fox News viewers oppose the U.S. House opening a presidential impeachment inquiry.
Other issues surveyed include attitudes regarding abortion restrictions, impeachment, Huawei, and Fox News and MSNBC viewership.
June’s research not only reveals the extent to which the public believes large-dollar individual donors and PACs should not be funding political campaigns, but it also reinforces the fact that frequent Fox News viewers are deeply disconnected from mainstream Americans when it comes to issues related to international trade policy and abortion. While 50% of all Americans believe imposing tariffs on products imported from other countries is bad for the United States, only 8% of faithful Fox News viewers think this is the case. And while 68% of Americans understand that obtaining an abortion is becoming more difficult, just 40% of frequent Fox watchers believe this.
This nationwide survey of Americans commissioned through Civiqs surveyed 1559 registered voters and was conducted online from June 8-12.
