Let’s awake the national conscience. Child endangerment on a massive scale should be the First Article of Impeachment against Donald Trump.
In detention centers in Clint, Texas (only recently discovered) and elsewhere, children are ill-housed, ill-fed, sleep-deprived, held in the worst of insanitary and overcrowded conditions, away from family. There is mass infestation of lice and influenza. There is no soap or toothbrushes. Many if not most will leave with permanent physical and psychological scars. Children are left to lie on concrete floors with aluminum blankets with lights on all night so that they can’t sleep. That is torture. Detained eight-year-old children away from their own parents are left to care for diaperless infants that they never met. Many have been separated from brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, other family members with whom they crossed the border. www.cbsnews.com/…
This is intentional on the part of the President of the United States — he has so admitted — www.reuters.com/... in the name of deterring migration from any country less white than Norway.
Child endangerment is a felony, everywhere. For exampe, in Texas, it carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for a second offense. Mass child endangerment is logically more than one offense, and when it is done to people in part because of their race, it is the cousin of a hate crime besides. www.esquire.com/...
Speaker Pelosi, please begin an impeachment investigation against Donald Trump in the House of Representatives. While the perpetually puzzled Congressman Nadler tries to figure out how to enforce congressional subpoenas, you or he can begin your nationally televised impeachment investigation hearings here, Article One, Child Endangerment. Obstruction of Justice can be Article Two of the impeachment that the House should investigate, Article Three can be contempt of Congressional Subpoenas, Article Four can be Abuse of Power, money laundering through the Russian oligarchs and related crimes down the list. But in the name of our humanity as a republic, mass endangerment of children should be the First Article.
We must shine a light on this. And yes, these detention centers are concentration camps, targeting the weakest and most vulnerable among us. www.esquire.com/...
One day our grandchildren will ask, “what did you do to stop this?” What will we tell them? The above is a beginning, if we do it now.
