Last week we learned that children who were separated from their parents at the border are going without basic needs, including soap, toothbrushes, blankets and even adequate nutrition. Many are sick and not receiving appropriate care.
At the same time, leaked reports revealed that ICE planned to target immigrant communities in ten cities with raids and deportations.
Facing enormous backlash and unprecedented organizing from civil and human rights organizations, Trump delayed the raids for another two weeks, and CBP moved many of the children.
Trump and his white nationalist co-conspirators want you to feel helpless, powerless, and resigned to the reality of this cruelty. But once again, the Daily Kos community refuses to simply accept their callous indifference.
This morning we asked our email list to contribute to organizations advocating and organizing for immigrant communities. So far, we have raised $99,000!
The work these organizations are doing is vital. Please support their efforts by helping us raise $125,000. Click here to donate today.
We’re supporting numerous organizations that are taking direct action to help the children and families along the border, as well as immigrant communities across the country.
These are the organizations listed on the fundraising page:
-
Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP) provides rapid response legal services in moments of crisis including wrongful deportations, detentions and raids;
-
Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) protects unaccompanied children who enter the US immigration system alone. They ensure that no child appears in court without an attorney;
-
Texas Civil Rights Project is a network of lawyers representing families in communities across Texas who have been torn apart due to Trump's immigration policies;
-
UndocuBlack Network is a multigenerational immigrant-led network that supports, engages, and empowers their communities through advocacy, resources, and organizing.
If you are able, please click here to contribute whatever amount is meaningful to you. Your money will be put to good use.
If you are not able to donate, please share this fundraiser with your personal networks, along with a note about why this is important to you.
This is only one part of the work we're doing in defense and support of immigrants and refugees. Just like you, we're furious and upset and refuse to simply allow this to happen on our watch. You can join this work by signing up to receive Daily Kos email alerts.
Thank you for all you do.

June 27, 2019: Thanks to the generosity of so many people, we have exceeded our goal! I am moved beyond words. Thank you.
In the aftermath of the devastating, unnecessary deaths of Oscar Alberto Martínez and his 23-month-old daughter Angie Valeria, we have added the organization No More Deaths to the fundraising page.
If you can, please donate what is meaningful to you. If you cannot, please share the fundraiser with your personal networks. Thank you for all you do.
