The mission of the Young Voices for the Planet film series is to to limit the magnitude of climate change and its impacts by empowering children and youth, through uplifting and inspiring success stories, to take an essential role in informing their communities — and society at large, challenging decision-makers, and catalyzing change.
We document youth speaking out, creating solutions and leading the change. These youth solutions to the climate crisis include stories of California kids banning plastic bags, Florida students saving their school $53,000 in energy costs, an 11-year-old German boy planting millions of trees and other young people changing laws, changing minds and changing society as they reduce the carbon footprint of their homes, schools and communities.

Bloomberg Opinion:
Want to Help Fight Climate Change? Have More Children
Don’t feel guilty about bringing children into a warming world. Be hopeful that they can help solve the problem.
Rest of World
Some of us take the rest of the billion or so children of the world seriously. Not enough of us to solve the children's problems right away, but enough to make substantial progress. One Laptop Per Child proposed to recruit countries to give every child in the world a powerful laptop computer, plus electricity and broadband Internet, and sharp tools for education and production. We ran into naysayers, coups, civil wars, and corporate interference. So our program did not succeed directly. But it seeded the idea out into the world, where various countries and various other organizations have taken up parts of it. Uruguay. Rwanda. Bangladesh. The UNHCR in Gaza.
This is the realization of Doug Engelbart's program for Augmenting Human Intellect via interactive computing. The mouse was only a tiny part of his work.
I had the immense pleasure of being the first to demonstrate the OLPC laptop to Doug, and explain how it was meant to be the realization of his entire program, using all of his tools.
We mean to teach a billion children to take over the world and tackle its major problems without the obstacle of their elders' insular and tribal prejudices. They won't know what hit them.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
