Donald Trump continues to escalate his attacks on four non-white Democratic congresswomen, mere days after being forced to half-heartedly distance himself from racist "Send her back!" rally chants directed at American Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. The chants came as Trump attacked Omar in an extended, largely pre-scripted rant at a North Carolina rally, in what was yet itself another doubling down on Trump's rhetoric towards Omar and allied congresswomen who have raised Trump's ire primarily due to their fierce opposition to Trump's inhumane treatment towards migrants and asylum seekers.
Trump continued to question the core Americanness of all four today, tweeting "I don’t believe the four Congresswomen are capable of loving our Country. They should apologize to America (and Israel) for the horrible (hateful) things they have said. They are destroying the Democrat Party, but are weak & insecure people who can never destroy our great Nation!"
It should be noted that the outburst came after an series of angry tweets mostly relating to things he saw on Fox News, so the "president" clearly spent the morning stewing over his idiot box.
He also condemned as "Fake News" new Washington Post article outlining, in detail, Republican efforts to manage his latest self-created crisis while avoiding doing anything that would add themselves to Trump's list of targets.
Of note: The Washington Post reported that Trump's advisers "wrote new talking points and handed him reams of opposition research" on the four congresswomen, urging him to "pivot" to attack their "patriotism" rather than on their "identity." Trump's morning tweet claiming that he doesn't "believe" they "are capable of loving our Country" appears to be his characteristically dumbed-down, bellowing interpretation of that advice.
