There’s going to be a thousand conspiracy theories for decades to come about what happened to Epstein. Hours after he was found dead, theories are popping up faster than weeds in a garden after a spring rain. Which “theories” have substance and which end up in the conspiracy theory bin will be sorted out over time.
Carol Leonning is not my favorite reporter but she does work for the Washington Post and is a contributor on MSNBC. She just tweeted this:
Since this story could end up being huge since it is linked to Trump and several other powerful people, any legitimate investigation will have to come from a House committee and not the DOJ. After 7 months of “investigations” we’ll have to see if we get promises or quick action.
UPDATE: Thank God Barr is going to take care of this!
UPDATE 2: Barr just announced his investigation is over and it was a suicide, with no collusion no obstruction.
UPDATE 3: This from Harry Litman, someone who’s comments I have a great deal of respect for, is well worth the short read.
The BOP’s suicide prevention protocol entails, first and foremost, human eyes on the prisoner 24 hours a day. It also requires a strict deprivation of anything — shoelaces, sheets, pillowcases — that could possibly be used to hang oneself. It also requires disabling anything that could be used to tie a noose — vents, sprinkler heads, etc.
…
Third, is there a video of Epstein’s cell at the crucial time? There should be, and it will reveal exactly how and when Epstein killed himself.
