I love, love, did I mention that I love, to read.
While I was going for my Ph.D. I did not have the opportunity to read my first love, novels as most of my time was spent reading Journals, etc. However now that I am on disability, the only benefit is that I have more than ample time to read novels. I average a book every 3 days or so….
That all changed when I picked up the book The Wanderer written by Fritz Leiber.
I was lucky enough to be donated 300 plus fantasy/sci fi books from a friend of a friend. Since this book was the 1965 Hugo award winner I though that I would enjoy it. Little did I know…
In my view this book is horrible. I read 3 pages and I get so bored and unhappy with the writing that I put it down for a few days until I pick it back up and repeat the same.
A lot of my friends ask me why I keep reading this book if I dislike it so much. I really do not know myself, other than I read it for two reasons...one to see if it gets any better and two to see how it ends.
So my question for my fellow Kossacks: Do any of you keep reading a book even if you do not like it at all, or am I the only one?
