Believe it or not, the most disturbing moment from Mitch McConnell and his campaign this weekend wasn’t his campaign’s inexplicable decision to tweet out tombstones of their supporters. Not by a longshot. Seven of his youngest supporters got the bright idea to make like they were choking one of Moscow Mitch’s biggest tormentors, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Jen Hayden mentioned it in an update to her front page piece, but this is so egregious and disturbing that it merits a separate diary.
After pictures of this outrageous incident started bouncing around Twitter, I wondered if there was a way to track them down. Fortunately, one of the screenshots was geolocated at Fancy Farm via Instagram.
So, after a quick search on Instagram for all pictures taken that weekend at Fancy Farm, I turned up this picture taken by one Davis McIntire.
No other possible interpretation, unlike with the Covington Catholic affair in DC.
If you click over to my piece on this at RDTDaily, you’ll see that young Davis holds himself off as a devout Christian, and harrumphs to a commenter that she was merely expressing an opinion.
I would have liked to get a comment from Davis, but soon after I buzzed him, he took his Instagram feed private. He may be able to avoid answering questions from a blogger and journalist, but he won’t be able to run if a college admissions official or potential employer discovers this picture. He should have to answer for this for the rest of his life.
At any normal household, regardless of political shade, this would be a “break glass” moment. If young Davis’ parents have any kind of love for him, they will sit him down for a not-so-friendly chat. This is definitely not a joking matter. Ditto for the parents of his friends.
Radio silence so far from the McConnell campaign. If you wondered how they could possibly find it acceptable to tweet out “tombstones” of their foes, this may be at least part of the answer.
