The Manhattan district attorney subpoenaed 8 years of tax returns from Donald Trump's accounting firm last month as state prosecutors investigate Trump's role in the hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign.
The bid is yet another prong in the ongoing efforts to obtain Trump's tax returns, which he has never released publicly.
During testimony earlier this year, Trump's former lawyer/fixer produced checks showing that both Trump and his company had reimbursed Cohen for the $130,000 he paid prior to the election in order to silence Daniels, with whom Trump allegedly had an affair.
The subpoena to Mazars USA seeks both federal and state returns from both Trump and the Trump Organization dating back to 2011.
