This is just so cozy: Moscow Mitch McConnell making sure that Sen. Susan Collins knows just how much she owes him, and in The Wall Street Journal, no less. The Journal’s story literally says, "MITCH MCCONNELL SPARES NO EXPENSE to bolster the candidacy of Maine Sen. Susan Collins," then goes on to explain just how committed he and his former staff are to getting her reelected.
That includes a breakfast fundraiser this week hosted by two of his former aides, now lobbyists with one of the big K Street firms. "One of the lobbyists, Brendan Dunn, was a top McConnell tax adviser and, like Collins, was crucial to the Republican tax law passing the Senate in 2017." Ah, yes, that critical vote of hers on the tax law that's put soooo much money into corporate America's pockets. The vote she gave away when McConnell promised her he'd bring a bill to the floor to protect people with pre-existing health conditions. Which (checks notes) never happened.
But that's not all. "McConnell himself will be the special guest at an Oct. 21 fundraiser for Collins, according to another invitation viewed by the Journal." No word on what those tickets are going to cost. Beyond the shreds of Collins' principles and independence, that is.
How sweet would it be to end McConnell's majority and Collins' career? Please give $1 to help Democrats in each of these crucial Senate races, but especially the one in Maine!
