Welcome to bookchat where you can talk about anything...books, plays, essays, and audio books. You don’t have to be reading a book to come in, sit down, and chat with us.

Most of us were raised with Charlie Brown (Peanuts) and Calvin and Hobbes. When my children were small my favorite comic strip was For Better or For Worse and I had a couple up on the fridge for years. One was when Elly was in the tub and the two little ones came in and joined her. She let them have the tub and as she steamed by her hubby he said something like “What?” It reminded me of my oldest child beating on the back wall while my youngest two fought in front of the door and hubby didn’t hear a thing.
The other one, they are in bed and she is worrying about something and John smiles and says he never worries and she says, “Somebody has to.”

We used to get a city paper delivered and then they said there were not enough people for a route, and then they cut back to four days a week. Hubby would drive into town to get it and then when Covid happened there were no papers at all. Bummer losing the Sunday funnies.
After I stopped reading the paper, hubby would bring the comics in to show me some favorites. There was Zits with teenagers and Pickles with an elderly couple like us. The paper dumped Pickles and the outcry was so huge they had to put it back.
