Saturday Morning Garden Blogging Vol. 16.36 - Stumps!

So, I put an ad on Craig’s List looking for uprooted trees and somebody actually contacted me! He sent me the above picture which got me very excited indeed. My husband and I drove to his home which was a bit more than an hour’s drive west of us. He told us to take what we wanted and even helped pick through the pile. We tried to give him some money but he wouldn’t hear of it.

We were limited by the size of our Chevy S10 pickup but we filled it to the brim. There are still some bigger ones that I wouldn't mind going back for but I have to convince my husband first. 

My husband laid them all out on the lawn to make it easier to choose from.

We also stopped at Home Depot to get some edging and a couple of plants because I can’t help myself!

Friday was sunny so I was able to spread the mushroom soil that I’d bought in earlier in the week.

I tamped it down and placed some temporary stepping stones. My husband and I placed some of the stumps. I transplanted some ferns. This is a view from our game room. Can you see the fountain? It blends in well now.  It’s right next to the tree.

I found a nursery in Tennessee that specializes in moss. I think I’ll get some carpet moss for this area.

I’m currently sitting in my county campaign headquarters so I can’t take any more pictures of things going on in my garden.
