Kossacks,
I’ve not written a diary for what feels like eons. But this article, recently published by KTUU/KYES (the NBC 2/recently acquired CBS 5 duopoly here in Anchorage) has me hopeful. Could we ACTUALLY see a blue wave hit the 49th state?!?
Alaska could see a significant ‘blue shift’ once absentee ballots are counted after Election Day
This part in particular is fascinating.…
“The breakdown of who is voting absentee points to the potential for a “blue shift” after Election Day.
Just under 40% of registered Democrats in Alaska have requested absentee ballots compared to 21% of registered Republicans. Just over 17% of independents have requested absentee ballots in Alaska.
“I think we’re going to have a set of results on the night of the third and Republicans are going to go, ‘Yay,’” said Jim Lottsfeldt, a veteran strategist for mostly Democratic candidates in Alaska. “And then one week later, they’re going to count this mountain of left-leaning votes and they’re going to go, ‘oh.’”
I don’t want to get complacent or super hopeful but am I dreaming? Is there a chance we kick Dan Sullivan’s Koch Brothers-enabled, Trump butt-kissing/policy rubber stamping (he recently blocked a voter on Twitter who had the temerity to ask him why he was running ads saying he’d protect pre-existing conditions when he actually won’t) ass out of the Senate, and vote in Dr. Al Gross? And also elect Alyse Galvin, and by doing so, FINALLY jettison the insipid Don Young out of the House, a do-nothing for 48 years lobbyist lover who referred to covid at a meeting of seniors earlier this year as “the beer virus”? Could we turn this state blue?? 🤞
