It is debate night. Yee-haw! Donald Trump took a don’t interrupt pill and so far we have been able to hear actual things being said by both candidates. Unfortunately, Trump didn’t take a truth serum so we are still listening to his drivel of lies. Trump, in his glib way of blustering, is trying to angle that we are “turning the corner” of the pandemic and let’s not talk about it anymore.
Of course, Biden and most Americans would like a leader with something that can pass for a real answer to anything, especially what he is actually planning on doing to make this next stage of our pandemic better than the last stage of our pandemic. Trump, of course, has no answers. He has no policies, and he has zero interest in doing anything to lessen the damage this pandemic has done to Americans and continues to do to Americans, saying “We are learning to live with it.”
Biden jumped on this cavalier and heartless phrasing to slam Trump, justifiably so. “Number one, he says that we're learning to live with it. People are learning to die with it.”
Then Biden turned to the camera to speak to the audience at home. “You folks at home will have an empty chair at the kitchen table this morning. That man or wife going to bed tonight and reaching over to try to touch their—out of habit—where their wife or husband was, is gone. Learning to live with it? Come on. We're dying with it. Because he's never said—you said it's dangerous. When is the last time—is it really dangerous, still? Are we dangerous? You tell the people it's dangerous, now? What should they do about the danger? And you say I take no responsibility.”
Facts.
