The videos were posted all over social media accounts on Sunday. It takes place on a residential New York City street in Brooklyn. The first video is shot by a man who is confronting a parked police vehicle. An officer sits in the front seat of the vehicle while two other officers can be seen standing outside with their backs to the person shooting the video. The person in the video, clearly angry, is saying to the police officer in the car, “Say it again. What? You can’t say ‘Trump 2020, now?’ P!@#! F!@#ing p@#$%. Say it again.” At this point the officer on the vehicle’s public address system responds “Trump 2020.” The man, then walking away responds, “Go f&^% yourself you f!@#ing fascist.”
Another video, shot from above, catches the action where the first video ends. As the man walks away, the officer in the vehicle continues to taunt him saying. “Trump 2020. Put it on YouTube. Put it on Facebook. Take a picture, take a picture, take a video. Put it on your Facebook, put it on your YouTube. Have some fun.” And then after a few seconds, the cop says “Tough guy, tough guy.” Well, people did put it online and had “fun” with it.
According to reports from residents in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, these police in the neighborhood were just sitting there harassing the neighborhood by saying “Trump 2020” over and over until this man began filming. Flatbush is a historically Black neighborhood and as many on Twitter pointed out, beyond harassing an entire neighborhood, uniformed officers are very much not allowed to endorse or publicly express their political views.
Chief Terence Monahan tweeted out that “When you wear our uniform it is imperative to remain apolitical. Behavior like this will not be tolerated and will be dealt with. An update will be provided to the public.”
According to NBC News, the video from the window above was shot by a roommate of Brandon Hines, who has lived there since 2013. He said the incident took place around 10 PM, and he heard the commotion outside. He told the outlet that he wasn’t even dealing with the “Trump 2020” B.S. this officer was playing at. "It wasn’t even about the 'Trump 2020,' I just went to make sure that person had another pair of eyes on them to make sure they’re safe.”
This comes less than a week after a Miami police officer was busted for wearing a Trump 2020 “No Bullshit” face mask into a polling area on the first day of early voting.
