Days after revealing he tested positive for the novel coronavirus, Donald Trump has left the hospital after receiving treatment. But the experience didn’t teach him he was wrong about the severity of the virus—instead, it made him more confident in lying about the situation. “I feel better than I did 20 years ago!” Trump tweeted Monday. Of course, he also reassured his supporters, telling them not to be afraid of the deadly pandemic that has affected more than 7 million Americans.
Trump’s grand homecoming was nothing short of equivalent to the dramatic entrances Bollywood movies and actors are infamous for. (If you know, you know.) But Desi Twitter isn’t the only place that made a parody of Trump’s health update. James Corden from The Late Late Show used his talents to perform a parody of Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” that fits Trump’s ego and mentality just right.
Corden’s Tuesday night performance quickly went viral online. If you need something to start the day off right, this is definitely it. Corden kills the vocals and beautifully plays the piano in his newest hit, “Maybe I'm Immune." The hilarious video begins with a real clip featuring the star of the song, Trump. Spoiler alert: It’s followed by lyrics that play on Trump’s own words when defending himself after people questioned his health and ability to breathe properly.
“Maybe I'm immune 'cause today I'm feeling so alive ... just don't be afraid of the way I'm breathing. Maybe I'm immune, it's okay to go out for a ride, with others trapped inside; maybe you're immune to the lies my doctors tell you.”
Of course, the song also addresses Trump’s inability to wear a mask even after contracting COVID-19. But again, did anyone really expect Trump to not take off his mask for a photo opportunity?
“Maybe I'm a man and maybe I don't wear a mask 'cause I don't care about others, science I don't really understand,” the song continues.
I’ll leave it at that. Happy laughs.
