If there's one thing Donald Trump doesn't want America talking about, it's his abysmal handling of the coronavirus—arguably the hottest topic of the vice presidential debate Wednesday night. So hey, as long as Trump's locked up in the White House due to his COVID-19 contagion, he may as well call in to Fox News and threaten his quarantining attorney general, Bill Barr, if he doesn't indict the man who's absolutely destroying him in the polls. In fact, Trump wants both Barack Obama and Joe Biden locked up for his fantastical charge that they spied on his campaign. Remember when it was just Obama? Yeah, Trump’s make-believe scandal has conveniently expanded to include his 2020 presidential rival.
"Unless Bill Barr indicts these people for crimes—the greatest political crime in history of our country—then we're going to get little satisfaction, unless I win," Trump told Fox Thursday, "because I won't forget it."
Before we continue, let's remember there have already been several investigations into whether the FBI's Russia investigation was properly predicated—including the one conducted by the Justice Department's inspector general—and all have concluded it was properly predicated and free from political bias. On top of that, there’s never been a single shred of evidence that Obama directed the FBI investigation in any way—he was completely removed from the considerations that led to the Russia probe.
Nonetheless, Trump's banking on his own personal hatchet man, Attorney General Barr, to dig up some kind of dirt with an assist from U.S. Attorney John Durham, whom Barr tapped to do yet another probe of the matter. To aid Durham's dirt-digging expedition, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe released a trove of documents Wednesday about the Russia probe intended to provide new fodder for Trump's political witch hunt. Trump must be pretty frosted that the news barely even broke through the torrent of terrible headlines about his White House continuing to be a hotbed of new coronavirus infections, with at least 34 people connected to the White House testing positive for COVID-19, according to a FEMA memo obtained by ABC News.
Anyway, back to Trump's madman rant.
"These people should be indicted—this was the greatest political crime in the history of our country. And that includes Obama and it includes Biden—these are people that spied on my campaign," Trump claimed. (No, they didn’t.) "And I say, Bill, we got plenty, you don't need anymore—we got so much."
Trump then proceeded to get a little hot under the collar over the fact that Barr—who's still quarantining following Trump's White House superspreader event—hasn't indicted anyone yet.
"Barr's going to go down either as the greatest attorney general in the history of the country or he's gonna go down as a very sad situation," Trump said, claiming he has "all the information he needs."
To review, if Barr doesn't indict Obama and Biden for committing imaginary crimes, Trump will "never forget it" and Barr will "go down as a very sad situation."
Aside from the imaginary crimes, these are probably the truest words ever spoken by madman Trump. He will certainly “never forget” Barr not arresting his political enemies and Barr will absolutely be going down in history as a "very sad situation."
Speaking of which, anyone heard anything from Barr? He wasn't going to quarantine and then, suddenly, he did quarantine. And no one has seen or heard from him in days.
Anyway, Barr better stop letting the virus "dominate" him and get on those indictments posthaste.
