The coronavirus continues to spread throughout Georgia, having infected roughly 415,000 citizens so far. These numbers have only gone to prove the Trump administration’s mishandling of the coronavirus and Georgia’s Senators’ complicity. Perdue still praises Trump's handling of the virus despite the thousands of his own constituents suffering from the virus. However, Perdue’s constant downplaying of the virus becomes more problematic after his financial decisions during the initial outbreak in the month of January. At this time, Perdue was a member of a Congressional meeting meant to address members about the threat of the impending coronavirus outbreak.
Following this meeting, Perdue had sold $825,000 in stocks and bought another $1.8 million, dumping shares in travel companies and making investments in companies like Netflix and Pfizer, as well as other companies specializing in Covid-19 protective gear. Although Perdue claims that he did not have any involvement in his financial advisor’s day to day activities with his portfolio, there is no evidence proving that he did not utilize any information from the Congressional meeting in his financial decisions. The facts show that while he has been in office, Perdue has downplayed the virus, even going so far as to compare it to the flu and to car accident deaths. While downplaying it in public, his private actions show that he likely knew the real impact the virus would have -- why else would he dump nearly a million dollars of travel-related stocks while investing in Pfizer and Netflix?
This whole time, he worked to keep the state out of a lockdown, and enabled Georgia to have no mask mandates. Perdue has backed out of any future debates with Senate candidate Jon Ossoff likely because he cannot deny the fact that he has profited off of the coronavirus epidemic while allowing it to spread throughout Georgia. Even though the presidential election is over, the runoff elections for Georgia are crucial to flipping the senate, and us Georgians have the chance to remove a crooked politician like Perdue from office in this Senate run-off race come January 5th.

Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock's run-off elections in January are the ONLY chance left to flip the senate. We need to do everything we can to support their efforts.
