Barb Byrum-D, Clerk of Ingham County, Michigan, announced that she is seeking punitive consequencess against 19 Michigan lawmakers for violating their oaths of office. Her decission came on Monday, December 14 after one, Gary Eisen-R (St. Clair Township), made statements of possible violence directed against Michigan’s Electoral members on WPHM radio station.
The 19 lawmakers she cited are U.S. Reps. Tim Walberg (R-Tipton), Jack Bergman (R-Watersmeet), Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland) and John Moolenaar (R-Midland) and State Reps. Gary Eisen (R-St. Clair Twp.), John Reilly (R-Oakland), Julie Alexander (R-Hanover), Matt Maddock (R-Milford), Daire Rendon (R-Lake City), Beth Griffin (R-Mattawan), Douglas Wozniak (R-Shelby Twp.), Michele Hoitenga (R-Manton), Brad Paquette (R-Niles), Rodney Wakeman (R-Saginaw Twp.), Greg Markkanen (R-Hancock), Jack O’Malley (R-Lake Ann), Joe Bellino (R-Monroe), Bronna Kahle (R-Adrian) and Luke Meerman (R-Coopersville).
Rendon and Maddock were both seen present at the State Capitol with a group of GOP activist who falsely claimed they were Michigan’s Electors. They attempted to enter the Capitol, which had been ordered closed due to credible threats, and ssubmit their fake Elector slate, but were turned away by Michigan State Police officers present.
Byrum argues that the lawmakers have violated their oaths of office and should be fully investigated by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “I am not going to stand idly by while these individuals disrupt and breakdown our democracy without reprecussion,” stated Byrum.
