Here’s the. video of the doctor:
Oregon has been center stage in the Black Lives Movement and a target of Trump’s vitriol and fear mongering thanks to violence and property destruction in our Portland protests. Of course Trump ignores the white nationalist Proud Boys and the Patriot Prayer groups, rabid Trump supporters all. Their constitutional rights enable them to protest and the open carry law in Oregon allows them to carry weapons up to and including assault rifles.
Now Oregon has been in the national news again for a related yet very different reason. (Enlarge image below right)
When Dr. Steven LaTulippe told a pro-Trump rally in November that neither he nor his staff wears a mask while working in their Dallas, Oregon clinic, thus violating a state order which requires health care workers to wear a face-covering in health care settings the Oregon Medical Board was not forgiving. They suspended his license indefinitely:
Members of the medical board voted Thursday evening to suspend LaTulippe’s license immediately. According to a statement on the Oregon Medical Board website, the suspension was issued “due to the board’s concern for the safety and welfare of licensee’s current and future patients.”
The indefinite suspension prevents LaTulippe from practicing medicine anywhere in the state. LaTuilippe ran a family practice clinic called South View Medical Arts in Dallas, Ore.
His anti-mask comments came during a “Stop the Steal” election rally in Salem on Nov. 7. The video was posted on YouTube by the Multnomah County Republican Party.
He has said publicly that he has treated about 80 patients for COVID-19, but incorrectly equated the virus to the “common cold.” from www.kgw.com/...
Prior to this incident if your did a Google search for Dr. Steven LaTulippe I assume you’d come up with the usual websites one would find for any doctor including the website for his own clinic. His practice is, at least for now, listed under the Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics logo but his practice is not actually a part of this organization. (Corrected, I previously wrote that he was) I am not sure how long his website will be kept online or remainder the Salem Health logo so here’s what it looks like as of today (click to enlarge image):
It is ironic that a small town doctor lost his license while Dr. Scott Atlas who did far, far more damage still has his. I’ll still take this gift, but if anyone shouldn’t be allowed to have any influence on the public, let alone get anywhere near a real patient, it is this dangerous quack.
.
Afterword:
LaTulippe received is medical degree from Loma Linda University (LLU) is a Seventh-day Adventist health sciences university. It is unranked in the highly regarded U.S. News and World Report medical school rankings. The university made the news when it was the subject of a Pulitzer Award-winning expose written by Jerry Kammer about how it benefitted financially from its relationship with a Republican member of the US House.
