Rep. Joaquin Castro has, once again, introduced his resolution to terminate the emergency declaration by impeached president Donald Trump that he's using to steal military funding for the border wall. Meanwhile, Senate Republicans are keeping mum.
The Texas Democrat has now introduced his resolution three times. In a statement Friday, he said "President Trump's latest power grab is the result of losing a political fight with Congress." Congress has previously voted to terminate his emergency declaration and to stop the diversion of funds. "Raiding these funds to build a wall does nothing to make us safe nor does it address the real humanitarian crisis across our southern border," Castro continued. "Our military families continue to be collateral damage in the President's unending quest to fulfill this bigoted campaign promise."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee points out that the funds being raided are in plenty of vulnerable Republican senators' home states. "Republican Senators on the ballot in 2020 including Thom Tillis, Cory Gardner, Martha McSally, Joni Ernst, David Perdue, John Cornyn, Lindsey Graham, and Mitch McConnell have all previously voted to uphold the president’s abuse of the national emergency declaration to divert military project funding, including millions from projects in many of their own states."
