In just one interview on 60 minutes, Bernie managed to do some pretty wild stuff.
ON the answer about Cube, he said that:
Asked about his past backing of Fidel Castro’s communist government in Cuba during an interview with 60 Minutes, Sanders began by saying, “We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba,” before adding, “but, you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad.”
“When Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program,” he told journalist Anderson Cooper during the interview. “Is that a bad thing, even though Fidel Castro did it?”
I don’t know, maybe that’s technically correct. But would a smart politician really go there, especially knowing that one thing about Florida is that they despise Castro? Why do it? Are we trying to lose Florida? Are we going to list great things about Saddam Hussein or Putin?
Then Bernie answered a question about economics.
Sanders: That's just "Medicare for All," yes.
Cooper: Do you have -- a price tag for all of these things?
Sanders: No, I don't. We try to -- no, you mentioned making public colleges and universities tuition free and canceling all student debt, that's correct. That's what I want to do. We pay for that through a modest tax on Wall Street speculation.
Cooper: But you say you don't know what the total price is, but you know how it's gonna be paid for. How do you know it's gonna be paid for if you don't know how much the price is?
Sanders: Well, I can't -- you know, I can't rattle off to you every nickel and every dime. But we have accounted for -- you -- you talked about "Medicare for All." We have options out there that will pay for it.
That seems a LITTLE VAGUE to me. If you are the candidate, the leading candidate, absolutely you should be able to explain the numbers behind your plan.
I don’t know. Is this how its going to be every time Bernie has a serious interview? Cleanup crew on Aisle 7?
