Remember Rep. John Ratcliffe, the conspiracy theory-spewing lackey that Donald Trump wanted to install as Director of National Intelligence? Except he couldn't because Ratcliffe's entire resume for the job was a lie? So Trump had to withdraw the offer? He’s back. Because nothing will quell fears of Trump gutting the entire national security team in order to install his own bootlickers like resurrecting this guy.
Trump tweeted last August that Ratcliffe was out of the running, so it's only appropriate that he now tweets that Ratcliffe is, once again, his nominee. "Would have completed process earlier, but John wanted to wait until after IG Report was finished," Trump says. "John is an outstanding man of great talent!" Yeah, his nomination was tanked last time because REPUBLICANS were opposed to him, including Richard Burr, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee and would be the one to shepherd the nomination. He warned Trump last time around not to tap Ratcliffe for the job because he was so blindingly partisan. But that all happened a whole six months ago; you couldn't really expect Trump to remember that far back.
