Donald McNeil, science and health reporter for the New York Times, talks with Rachel Maddow about how China handles a person who may have contracted the novel coronavirus, with an eye on breaking the chains of transmission and protecting hospitals from being overwhelmed
What his experience and words bring are jaw dropping!

This is extremely useful information. The gist is that China did the following to break the chains of contagion:
- Temperature tested everyone who attempted to enter any building or mode of public transportation;
- Sent anyone with a temperature to a temperature clinic (NOT their doctor) where fully protected staff tested for three likely alternative sources of temperature;
- If the high-temperature could not be ruled out as caused by one of those alternative sources, a Covid-19 test was given and the sick individual compelled to wait until test results came back;
- If positive for Covid-19, the sick individual was quarantined, either in quarantine hotels or in mass quarantine
The guest also commented on how the Chinese encouraged group dancing activities among the mass quarantined in order to promote lung usage that would fight the build up of unhealthy by-products and to identify the sickliest patients (who could not get up and join in.)
Altogether very informative and probably what we should be doing here. Temperature testing and quarantine.
