I believe the time has come.
Trump has gone too far.
Drs. Deborah Birx and Dr. Anthony Fauci must stop giving credence to the president and what he says by sharing the literal and symbolic national stage with him.
I think they believe they have a role in reining him in and every so gently contradicting him and countering his dangerous advice and his making statements as if his gut feelings take precedence over solid medical advice.
I thought enough is enough when I saw this segment on Brian Williams’ show last night:
“I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be,” Trump said in a call to Fox News’ “Hannity.”
“I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators,” Trump continued. “You know you go into major hospitals sometimes they’ll have two ventilators and now, all of a sudden, they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?'”
I was inspired by what Jay Inslee, the governor of my neighboring state of Washington, who Trump lambasted in remarks, to Trump in his conference call with national governors.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee urged Trump to use his authority to mandate the production of medical supplies. The action is something the president can do under the Defense Production Act, a Korean War-era law that gives the president powers to force businesses to make goods when there is national demand.
In response, Trump said the federal government serves as the "backup."
That comment apparently set off Inslee.
"I don't want you to be the backup quarterback; we need you to be Tom Brady here," an angry Inslee shot back at Trump, referencing the football star and friend of the president, according to the Associated Press, which obtained a recording of the call.
There is nothing you or I can do. There is nothing journalists trying to hold Trump’s feet to the fire in the press briefings can do, or attempting to prompt the Dr. Fauci or Dr. Birx to set him straight. I think they should tell him that he cede the briefing the Pence and the two of them and the experts the Covid crisis team selects.
It will take an act of coordinated bravery by the two of them to get this mad politically motivated narcissistic and near delusional with wishful thinking and ignorance man out of the spotlight, by telling him that either he stop running the briefings and allow Pence to take on this role with the appropriate experts backing him up… or else!
These doctors are smart enough to understand that Trump has a personalty disorders, narcissistic and anti-social, is a rageaholic and a bully in addition to being perfect example of Machiavellianism the psychological trait centered on interpersonal manipulation, unemotional coldness, and indifference to morality. As I wrote before he is the paradigm of the dark triad which refers to the personality traits of narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy.
They should tell him that if he doesn’t do this they will quit and obviously let him deal with the public reaction.
They should stop telling themselves that the nation needs them because they are the Trump whisperers. This is the time for gutsy and drastic action from the two of them acting in concert.
