Tricia Zunker campaigning from home through virtual events
The world has felt different for all of us in the last two weeks. Small businesses have closed, people are scared for their loved ones, and they’re uncertain about how to make ends meet. I hear these stories every day on this new virtual campaign trail and they’re why I’m running harder than ever.
I’m the Democratic nominee in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District special election on May 12 and the people I’m hearing from need me to flip this seat blue. Now more than ever, this crisis shows that who represents us matters.
I’ve put thousands of miles on my car, meeting with voters and listening to their concerns throughout this 26 county congressional district. But I canceled all in-person campaign events two weeks ago for the health and safety of Wisconsin voters and I'm grateful for the #saferathome order issued by Governor Evers this week. Now, I meet with people across this district through online events. Last week, I held a virtual roundtable where I heard from a small business owner who’s taking a financial hit, a nurse working with some of the most vulnerable populations, and the single mom of a son with cerebral palsy who had to choose to stay home from work to protect her son’s health.
This week, I held a town hall on Facebook where I checked in on how people were doing during this coronavirus pandemic and answered questions on topics like ensuring access to higher education, lowering health care costs, protecting the environment, and increasing living wages.
Every day, I’m calling voters to check in on them as we navigate through this global coronavirus pandemic together, ask them to do the same, and encourage people to take precautions. I’m going to continue reaching out to voters because right now people need someone to hear them and they need someone to stand up for them. Please let me know how else I can reach out to you.
Tricia Zunker is the Democratic candidate for the WI-07 special election on May 12 and she’s been endorsed by former Congressman Dave Obey, who served this district for 42 years. She’s a solo parent, a Ho-Chunk Supreme Court Justice, school board president, a licensed attorney, and a professor. Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional is a critical swing district. Join Tricia’s team here and help flip WI-07 blue.
