Today, Daily Kos announced key findings from a statewide survey of South Carolina commissioned through Civiqs. The poll of 591 registered voters was conducted online from May 23-26 and finds Republican Sen. Linsey Graham with a 35%/56% approval/disapproval rating. Graham is tied with Democrat Jaime Harrison 42%-42% in the U.S. Senate race, and Donald Trump leads Joe Biden 52%-42% in the presidential contest.
Sen. Graham is the least popular Republican politician in South Carolina. Statewide, Graham (35% favorable) trails Gov. Henry McMaster (42%), Sen. Tim Scott (48%), Nikki Haley (56%), and Trump (51%). Graham is also viewed the least favorably within his own party. Among Republican voters, Graham’s favorability (66%) is lower than that of McMaster (68%), Scott (83%), Haley (86%), and Trump (89%).
“This Daily Kos/Civiqs poll brings sorry news for Lindsey Graham,” said Carolyn Fiddler, communications director for Daily Kos. “While South Carolina remains a difficult place for statewide Democrats to win, voters have soured on their senior senator.”
“This poll also highlights the disparate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color,” Fiddler continued. “While just 5% of whites in South Carolina know someone who has died from the coronavirus, 26% of Black South Carolinians know someone the virus has killed.”
Daily Kos is the nation's largest online progressive media and activism hub and leads the way in supporting Democrats across the country, raising over $3 million for candidates and campaigns in small, grassroots donations in the 2020 cycle.
