Since I posted the illustration above many more media outlets have stories about this:
Just in case you missed the Kathy Griffin story you can find lots of them on Google News here. They are reporting on this tweet.
Trump’s response:
Right wing outlets like The Washington Examiner (below) and The Daily Caller (right) are changing the language in her tweet to say she advocated stabbing Trump with a syringe. Of course injecting air into a vein can be lethal although I rather doubt Griffin was, at least not consciously, thinking of this. Had she consulted with me I would have suggested that saying a “syringe with hot air inside would do the trick” would be a better line.
I don’t know if anybody has made note of the fact that if a non-diabetic injects insulin it can be fatal, and in fact it has been used for murder and there are documented cases of it being used for suicide. And then there’s the Claus von Bülow case where he was accused of putting his wife into a coma with an insulin overdose.
Trump musing on taking insulin for Covid is potentially dangerous considering how many households have diabetics using insulin and other family members could decide to try it for Covid protection.
Trump is the mother lode of rich material for comedians, and he seem to be oblivious to how many people are thanks to them gradually coming to see him as nothing more than an unfunny clown. For example his latest musing:
By all appearances, the point of yesterday afternoon's White House event was to announce a program to cap copay costs for Medicare recipients who rely on insulin treatments. But many of those who saw the display in the Rose Garden were struck not by what the president announced, but rather by what he said about insulin.
President Donald Trump pondered on Tuesday whether he should be taking insulin, a hormone typically prescribed to diabetics, during an announcement for a plan which would aim to drastically reduce the price of insulin for people on Medicare. "I don't use insulin," Trump said. "Should I be? Huh? I never thought about it. But I know a lot of people are very badly affected, right? Unbelievable."
A variety of observers suggested Trump was kidding -- or at least trying to. That's certainly possible, though with the president, it's sometimes hard to tell.
At the same event, however, a reporter, likely picking up on Trump's comments, asked the president, "Is there any reason why someone who does not have diabetes would take insulin? Is there any sort of medical reason for that?" Trump didn't want to answer, so he passed it off to Surgeon General Jerome Adams, who reminded the president that his body already makes insulin. MSNBC
Such utterances challenge comedians to come up with an original response, hence Kathy Griffin’s tweet. Of course as a psychotherapist (retired) I don’t think it is amusing to make fun of someone with schizophasia (you know you want to click on this link) but then again Trump is the president.
Kathy Griffin’s comedic style may not be to your taste. I enjoyed her show “My Life On The D list” which while it had the some of the unreal trappings of a reality show her willingness, even her relishing, in exposing her flaws was refreshing.
As a celebrity who, while not really on the “D List” she wasn't really an A-lister. B+ perhaps.
That was until she tweeted her famous (or infamous) image of her holding Trump’s severed head. (See also Kathy Griffin bloody Trump pic defended by photographer' — I really hope that they let me visit her at Guantanamo,' jokes Tyler Shields.)
This apparently led to the Secret Service investigating her and basically moved her from the B- list to the actual A list for anti-Trumpers.
This new story led me to go to her Twitter page and look at her pinned tweet (below) and become the 2,000,001st follower.
Above: Read article about this incident.
I admit that I wish Trump would tweet about me, an obscure Daily Kos community member and fairly prolific anti-Trump tweeter with all of 147 followers. Here are some of my recent tweets.
The above tweet had 3,000 views.
The above tweet takes you to the story I wrote about Trump’s magical thinking and the words you can’t see are “I ain’t afraid of no offing virus.”
Maybe Trump would tweet about me and get me on the D minus list.
