Deadline covered the response from Disney and T-Mobile.
Both Disney and T-Mobile have cut ties with the primetime Tucker Carlson Tonight over the host’s polarizing point of view on the Black Lives Matter movement and the desire for justice and equality in America many of its members advocate. Along with Papa Johns and SmileDirectClub, the media giant and the telecommunications brand faced a backlash in recent days for their association with Carlson and his belief that the well attended protests were “Black Lives Matter riots”
The position of Carlson certainly doesn’t match the position of Disney. In a memo sent out to employees, Disney advised members of staff that as a company they wanted a position that reflected diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. The Fox News host seems to only understand belonging as an exclusive club that he controls.
The new CEO for T-Mobile put it very bluntly:
Carlson, meanwhile, may be prepping whatever parachute he has, selling off his stake in the conservative website The Daily Caller, one he helped found in 2010. I guess the rainy day fund for Tucker needs to be refilled.
