We all know the disappointing story of Iowa 2016. The state that had gone for Barack Obama twice deserted the Democrats, and it wasn’t close. Here are the results, courtesy of Dave Leip’s Atlas of U.S. Presidential Election Results:

Yes, six electoral votes for the most corrupt, most dishonest, most unfit, and most mentally incompetent person who has ever run on a national party ticket. Out of 99 Iowa counties, Hillary Clinton won only six. (In 2012, Barack Obama carried 38.) Clinton’s best county was Johnson, the Democratic bastion of Iowa. The other 5 were Scott, Linn, Black Hawk, Story, and Polk. In Clinton County, Dubuque, Jefferson, and Winneshiek, Clinton was only down by 5 or less. In Des Moines she lost by just under 7. (Obama had carried it by 18 in 2012.) In Muscatine it was 6. In most of rural Iowa, it was an absolute bloodbath. Very discouraging, to say the least.
In 2018 the state’s Republican governor was reelected by less than 3 points. The other 5 executive offices were split, with the Democrats winning 3 and the Republicans 2. But the real story was in the U.S. House races, where the Democrats flipped two Republican seats, kept their existing seat, and almost threw out the horrible Steve King. Yes, we almost went 4 for 4 in 2018.
So you see, Iowa is far from hopeless.
Oh, and the latest, most reliable poll of the state puts Trump up by ONE POINT. ONE.
Interesting, isn’t it? The Trump trade war has done real damage in Iowa. The COVID response failure has done damage as well. We can WIN this state this year—if we WORK for it.
And another reason to GOTV in Iowa can be summed up in two words: Joni Ernst, obnoxious, Trump-worshiping, groveling, cackling, right-wing nutjob. We have a terrific candidate who currently is up by 3 points—THERESA GREENFIELD. Her website is HERE. Getting rid of Ernst and putting Greenfield in the Senate is key to winning the majority. Let’s go for it!
Who can we call on for help, and who can we join up with in Iowa? I’m glad you asked.
