Reason #10 to be excited about Joe Biden: Biden understands our nation
I loved how Obama talked about America as combining both the promise of a nation where all people have equal opportunity *and* the reality of a nation where we still struggle for equality.
I think that vision is special because so many people only see one side of it.
Some people deny that there is inequality in America. They see the words of the founders and they assume that there is equality for all
And other people deny that there is something beautiful and important about a country founded on the idea that there should be no king and ruling class. They see the inequality and see only ugliness in our nation.
If you deny the inequality that always did (and still does) exist then you can’t lead us forward. If you deny the beauty and promise of our nation, then you will never see our amazing potential.
Biden gets it. You can hear it in his speeches and interviews and in what his campaign puts out, like this amazing fourth of July message:
Joe Biden will be a great president.
