I’m not a good long-writer when it comes to diaries, so this will be short.
We’ve come to see what the Republican party line of Party over Country has done to this nation in the last twenty years. Let us not fall into the trap of believing that because Biden appears to be a shoo-in, our individual protest votes or no-votes won’t matter. Yes, our favorite candidate, whoever he or she may be, might have been a better choice, but this is what we have, and we must work with it.
Our form of government, whether we call it a republic or a democracy, will certainly not survive four more years of Donald Trump. If he is as desperate as people say he is about losing this election, how much more desperate would he be if and when he nears the end of his second term, when he cannot run again, and to what lengths would he go to prevent his own removal? We must get rid of him now while we still have a chance. Every vote not cast for Biden works against that.
Anyone who says Biden and Harris would be as bad or worse for this country than Trump will have a hard time convincing me.
And anyone who says their protest vote won’t matter in the election of Biden but will somehow change Democratic Party policy had better hope there still is a Democratic Party, or elections at all, come 2024. We stand already on the cliff edge of becoming a dictatorship; four more years of Trump will most certainly push us over.
This election is not the time for any of us to pick up our vote and go home. The United States deserves better than that.
