When it comes to whether we are eventually either a “good” or “bad” person, most of us will make the grade to the good side of the ledger...but by no means all. Why is that?
I believe a significant number of those who don’t make the grade miss it because of what I call “The Trump Effect.” Look at Dr. Birx, the Dr. whose qualifications almost equal those of Dr. Fauci, with a record that was basically blemish free...that is, until she was forced to say something that disagreed with the worst president America has had. At first she blinked and didn’t say much of anything, but when Trump applied the extra pressure Dr. Birx essentially backed down, and then she started getting flack from both sides. Now she has recovered somewhat but she remains damaged goods.
Most of us are lucky enough to avoid encounters with Trump types most of the time, but when we do encounter them this is when we must reach down into the bedrock of who we really are and how strong we really are as that person. This by no means means that Dr. Birx is a bad person — it just means she found herself between a rock and a hard place — and I think the good Dr. made a mistake by not standing firm in her original position.
Perhaps the takeaway from all this is we must never again gamble with our country and its people by placing it in the hands of a man who is a bully, has no morals, worships money, power and himself and not necessarily in that order, and shows a dangerous affinity for other autocrats in the world like Putin, Kim, Erdogan and even Chinese President Xi Jinping. At the same time he says nobody has been tougher on Russia than he has..who the hell does he think he’s kidding. Trump, the man, is an open book — a very bad book...with a very bad ending..for all those who must deal with him
