As Joe Biden unveiled his detailed plan for Puerto Rico at an Hispanic Heritage Month event in Kissimmee, Florida, Donald Trump got into the act by once again using Twitter to spread the very “fake news” he spews about.
Desperation and deception go hand in hand. Makes you wonder what internal polls are telling the Liar-in-Chief.
The good news is that Trump no longer has carte blanche to do the dirty dance he’s known for. Twitter, facing a lot of pressure from media accuracy groups and individual users, is now tagging Trump’s fakes as “manipulated media.” The bad news is that simply putting a tiny “manipulated media” tag on a tweet doesn’t prevent it from being spread like a vile virus. They need to be taken down as soon as he posts them.
Case in point: Trump’s promotion of edited video from Biden’s appearance at the Kissimmee event.
On his first visit to Florida as a presidential nominee on Tuesday, Joe Biden whipped out his cellphone to play “Despacito,” as a tribute to its singer, Luis Fonsi, who introduced the former vice president at the event. The moment exploded on social media, inspiring jokes, memes and a surprise resurgence of the 2017 single onto Twitter’s trending topics.
Early on Wednesday morning, President Trump joined the fray — but in the video he tweeted, it wasn’t “Despacito” playing from Biden’s phone. It was N.W.A’s notorious 1988 single “F--- tha Police.”
Parker points out the danger in allowing Trump’s freedom to lie to go un-checked.
I think the lies will continue as we draw closer to the election; Florida is clearly growing worrisome for the Trump campaign, as Daily Kos writer Greg Dworkin pointed out in Wednesday’s Abbreviated Pundit Roundup.
Not gonna be low turnout.

‘A heart pumping blue blood:’ How fast-growing Orlando threatens Trump’s reelection
Republicans fear the increasingly Democratic metro area could deliver a massive vote against the president in Florida, a state he can’t afford to lose.
As the population swells in Orange, it’s also exporting Democrats to neighboring communities, like once-red Seminole County.
“If you told me four years ago that Seminole would go blue, I would’ve laughed in your face. But it’s changing,” said Anthony Pedicini, a top Republican operative involved in state legislative races.
“It’s spreading from Orlando into the surrounding areas. Just look at the highway system, it’s like a heart pumping blue blood in every direction from Orlando,” he said.

What to do about Trump’s lies? If you are on Twitter, continue to report Trump tweets. The best push back is aiding GOTV efforts. You can get involved in making phone calls (and not just today). You do not have to be able to speak Spanish.
GOTV for the win!
