Do you remember that other time it was the end of the world? Back in November 2016? Remember that?
It sucked.
What did we do? Heck, what didn’t we do? We organized. We got political. We joined action and advocacy groups. We studied. We learned. We listened. We marched. We gave more than ever before: of our time, money, energy, words, work, sweat, passion. We showed up for each other. We brought friends. We brought family.
There is nothing the Supreme Court can do that the President, a unified Congress, and millions of brave, dedicated, creative and pissed-off people can not figure out a way around. Ban abortion? Organize bus trips across state lines, smuggle pills, resurrect Jane. Overturn the ACA? Expand Medicaid/Medicare until it’s functionally universal; or pass a new ACA without all the shitty compromises. Limit environmental safeguards? Shame, boycott and harass polluters.
As long as we control two branches, we’ll survive this, too.
Even if we don’t end up with control of two branches, there’s still a hell of a lot we can do. And believe me like you believe that monster eating your gut right now: we will do it. Oh yes we will.
Our numbers include millions of allies who have fought through evil and oppression their whole lives. For them, this shit is Tuesday. Listen. Learn. Join arms. Work.
But for now, breathe. We’ve got this.
We’ve got this.
