Seltzer & Co., an A+ rated pollster from Iowa, published a poll that shows Joe Biden and Trump are tied in that state at 47% each. The survey shows 3% undecided and 4% supporting someone else.
Iowa has emerged as an unlikely battleground state this year after Trump carried it by 9 percentage points and Republicans made other substantial gains. Now, the deadlocked race for president is one of many tight contests in the state, including for the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
Though Election Day is Nov. 3, early voting begins in Iowa Oct. 5 in person and in the mail.
Trump won Iowa by 9 points in 2020, but Obama and Biden carried it twice. Other recent polls have shown Biden doing well among several other Midwestern states, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska’s 2nd congressional district.
The same pollster released a poll on September 19 for Iowa’s Senate race showing Democrat Greenfield with a 3% advantage over Republican incumbent Ernst.

The University of Georgia Poll, rated B/C, also shows a tie in the Peach State state along with close races for the two Senate seats.
The poll pegged Trump and Biden at 47% apiece, with an additional 1% of voters backing Libertarian Jo Jorgensen. Only 4% were undecided in the survey of 1,150 likely voters, which was conducted Sept. 11-20 by the University of Georgia’s School of Public and International Affairs.
Georgia’s twin U.S. Senate races are also competitive. U.S. Sen. David Perdue (47%) and Democrat Jon Ossoff (45%) are neck-and-neck, within the poll’s margin of error of 4 percentage points. Libertarian Shane Hazel has 4% support, and about 5% are undecided.

With his recent advantage in money raised, Biden is advertising in both these states though neither are likely to be the tipping point state that puts him over 270 electoral votes.
The ads planned for Biden’s latest buy reflect his challenge to build a wide coalition. In racially diverse Georgia, two spots feature Black men discussing criminal justice and opportunities in the Black community. Another highlights Biden’s selection of Sen. Kamala Harris to be the first Black woman to join a major party ticket as vice presidential nominee.
In Iowa, where the electorate is overwhelmingly white, one ad is built around Biden’s attacks on Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Another shows Biden talking about protests of police violence against Black men. In the ad, Biden explicitly criticizes rioting and looting, but also blames Trump for stoking tensions and violence.

Other state polls released today show Biden winning in Vermont by 56% to 32%, and Trump leading in South Carolina 50% to 44%.
The South Carolina poll, by Morning Consult rated B/C, has Lindsey Graham leading Democrat Harrison by only 46% to 45%. Graham is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee that will likely vote on Trump’s choice to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg. He has decided to go back on his promise not to consider a Supreme Court nomination during an ongoing presidential election.

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE SEN. BRAD HUTTO (D):
“We’re not quite Georgia, and Georgia’s not quite North Carolina, and North Carolina’s not quite Virginia, but we’ve kind of gone that way,” said Hutto of the shifting political environment, which has paved the way for Democrats to make up ground. “Virginia moved purple then blue, then North Carolina edged that way when Barack Obama was president, and Georgia was always close. We’re right behind them.”
