By Hal Brown, My blog includes timely articles that pique my interest each day.
I came across the boxing website ringsidereport.com which covers boxing, MMA, pro wrestling, and general media. It’s not to be confused with ringsidereport.net which covers MFA wrestling. I found the website because I have a Google News search for #UNFIT. It has one of the most detailed and best reviews of #UNFIT which I’ve read so far. I am humbled by the likelihood that far, far more people will read it than the approximately 30 people (based on the poll) who read my own Daily Kos story about the documentary.
The reviewer of #UNFIT, Jim “Giacomo” Gatto, admits his bias before he goes on to review the movie:
The first time I looked at this guy and I knew—uh, uh. No good. That was around 35 years ago. Since then, I have witnessed his antics over the years. The sagas of three marriages, covered very closely in the New York media and supermarket tabloids. The bankruptcies. The bombast. The pompous horse’s ass. And the racist who took out a full-page ad in four New York newspapers, calling for the death penalty for the Central Park 5. I didn’t like him then, and I like him less and less every day.
His conclusion:
There are lessons to be learned here. After watching this film my strategy has changed a bit. Armed with some valuable insight into the minds of Trump supporters, my approach will be a bit different when engaging, as I may have a better idea of what motivates their support for him. At the very least, I am now convinced it’s motivated by fear. That’s a bit easier to tolerate. I am, however, not convinced that there isn’t some correlation between this fear and poor education. At least in some cases. And certainly not dismissing the notion that pure racism isn’t a major motivator. But without a rabble- rouser a mess of this scale is not possible.
Richard Painter, a legal scholar, and a man for whom I have great respect, was asked on screen “What are you most fearful of, about this president being in control?” Painter, without hesitation gave a startling answer, “nuclear war… I mean, that’s… that’s the long term. I mean that’s…that’s the biggest risk is that the some… he gets in a confrontation with a foreign leader…North Korea, ah, with China, ah, where is ego’s on the line.” Richard Painter is not one for hyperbole. Coming from him, that raised a few hairs on my neck.
I highly recommend you all invest 90 minutes and watch this well-researched and fact-supported documentary. It’s an eye-opener…
On Sept. 4th the same author wrote Donald Trump Couldn’t Hold Honest Abe Lincoln’s Top Hat!
He begins:
Donald Trump needs a crash course on the history of his own party. It is infuriating to hear him compare himself to Abraham Lincoln and refer to The GOP as “The Party of Lincoln.” We often hear that term flying from the lips of Donald Trump. “Lincoln was the first Republican.” Donald Trump enjoys aligning himself with the Great Emancipator. He says that he’s done more for African Americans than any other president since Abraham Lincoln. He believes he has permission to say this because Lincoln was a Republican. And by virtue of being Republican he’s just like Lincoln. It’s a great sell to the audience at his Big Top. But in the real-world Lincoln republicanism bears little to no resemblance of the current day Grand Old Party. There are a few similarities. For example, little to no government intervention in business and commerce. And other than that, perhaps only in name.
His conclusion:
And finally, police brutality against African Americans has been an issue for many years. But this is the first time in history we’ve had a president who has openly condoned it. Trump hasn’t said word one about how he plans to address it, or even what he thinks about it. In fact, he’s made excuses for some of the police officers who are accused of murder. The Rail-splitter surely would have had the right words. The draft dodger does what he does best…. dodges
President Trump comparing himself to the great Abraham Lincoln is so absurd that I can search a thousand years for a fitting metaphor and never find one. Not going to try.
Here’s self-disclosing story from yesterday: Dealing With Bipolar Disorder & Healthy Escapes in Coping Especially in the Days of COVID-19, Boris Johnson & Donald Trump!
These past few weeks have been difficult for me. The dark side of the bipolar has been biting hard at my heels and the constant drip of bad news has taken its toll. Trump and his shameful and shameless shenanigans, Boris Johnson and his bumbling incompetence, the ongoing terror and trauma of COVID-19, and then the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Let’s be honest, that’s enough to be going on with, bipolar or otherwise.
Here’s a story by Donald “Braveheart” Stewart from Sept. 22: Donald Trump is Despised Around the World!
From over here in the UK, y’all look like you have a dilemma on your hands…
Or in your votes.
You have FBI directors telling people that a foreign government – Russia – are once again trying to influence the election of your President. On top of that you have wildfires that are tearing up the scrub in some of your states. Then there is a pandemic that is literally ripping through the living and I have to wonder if there has ever been a worse time to be American.
There is a stereotypical American that the majority of the world see and believe in. It is of a brash, fake, loud and simply ignorant tourist wandering around our cities and acting as if the only culture worth knowing about is American. We tend to think that America doesn’t have much of a culture.
It’s a false view of America but the problem is, one look at the head of your country and it is hard to imagine why that might be.
Here’s another story: Ringside Report Brings You a Closer Look at Joe Biden – A Good Man, Leader & What America Needs Right Now! It reviews Joe Biden’s positions of the crucial issues facing the country.
This one may be snark but it comes pretty close to the truth:
