Disclaimer: I was a psychotherapist and not a physicist, but by chance I actually know eight physicists who live in my senior community and one is a friend to who I sent the drawing I used for my illustration. I also have something of a warped mind which is why these notions come to me.
In very high falls, bodies can reach terminal velocity, the speed at which air resistance becomes so high it cancels out the acceleration due to gravity. Once at terminal velocity, you can fall as far as you like and you won't gather any more speed.
While even short drops can be lethal, people have survived horrendous falls. In 1972, Vesna Vulovic, a cabin attendant, survived a 10,160m fall when the DC-9 she was in exploded over what is now the Czech Republic.
The gory details of why you die are described here but you don't really to know why people who fall out of 55 story buildings almost never survive.
I’m not go to spend any time listing news reports of the past week, even the past few days, that add up to why Trump has had heaped upon him a hellstorm or horrors. I’ll leave that to the diarists who simply report the news and don't offer their own opinions. Not that there’s anything wrong with that...
I’ve already written two diaries (Fox News has been story and the weasel story) more or less about my opinion on the subject of whether or not Trump will survive the news coming to light this week and his and his minions implausible denials. These include reports about his disrespecting our soldiers and the revelations in the books just published.
I think Trump who is delusional in his grandiosity, I mean pre-Thorazine bad old days of electro-shock psychiatric hospital locked in a back ward as they come delusional.
- Grandiose delusional disorder definition (ask yourself if this seems to apply) “A person with this type of delusional disorder has an over-inflated sense of worth, power, knowledge, or identity. The person might believe he or she has a great talent or has made an important discovery.” Reference
I think he is hoping for one of three things to happen (or maybe all three):
- Miraculously a Covid-19 vaccine or cure comes along before the election which he will take credit for...
- In the first debate Biden just awed to be in the presence of the great Donald Trump begins to stutter so badly he can’t utter a word...
- The voodoo pins he’s sticking the the Biden doll Steven Miller ordered from Amazon actually work…
But then again, this is just my opinion...
What do you think? Take the poll: is he about to be a chalk mark on the pavement or will be manage to pull the ripcord and save himself? I wrote this last night before I read this: ‘This is only the beginning’: Atlantic editor tells Trump more is to come over his soldier insults and added my opinion in pictorial form this morning.
Another morning update: Askyron’s comment prompted me to make this illustration, I couldn’t find one with Wile E. Coyote holding an anvil although I assume there are one some, so I had to add it myself.
