In the last few weeks, I’ve shone a light on some vocal elements of the religious right who have begun openly calling for the military to overthrow Joe Biden and reinstall Donald Trump. They include the likes of so-called “prophets” Johnny Enlow, Jeff Jansen, and Kat Kerr.
Well, a pair of slightly more prominent conservatives have joined the calls for a coup. Namely, Diamond and Silk—otherwise known as Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson.
On Friday, People for the American Way’s Right Wing Watch flagged them for telling David Brody that Biden must be overthrown so the military can find out what really happened last November.
It took a little digging, but I was able to find out when this took place. It was on Brody’s new talk show, The Water Cooler, which he hosts on far-right news network Real America’s Voice. The audio portion airs on Just the News, a right-wing news outlet founded by Fox News contributor and hard-right hack John Solomon. Apparently Brody has taken this on as a sideline to his day job as chief political analyst at Pat Robertson’s CBN.
On Thursday’s edition, Brody brought on Diamond and Silk—or rather, Cubic Zirconia and Burlap—to discuss Biden’s first press conference as president. It started at around the 10:45 mark of the Just the News podcast, but you can watch the whole thing here at Real America’s Voice.
At first, what we got was typical agitprop from a pair of sisters who have been rightly described as a “modern-day minstrel show.” Cubic Zirconia and Burlap claimed that “the American people are not happy” about what happened in 2020, and the For the People Act is an attempt to legalize Biden’s supposed theft of the election. They felt Biden’s claim that Republican voter suppression “makes Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle” is downright hypocritical coming from “Jim Crow Joe.” They then praised their dear one, Trump, for how his press conferences ran. Another reminder that those two live in a different world.
But things really went off the rails when Brody asked the sisters if they thought Biden would serve his full term or run for reelection. Cubic Zirconia scoffed, sounding the common line we heard from the right about Biden falling down the steps of Air Force One—that it was a sign of cognitive problems. She then called for the military to “step in and take over,” with Burlap nodding along. Claiming that “Larry, Curly and Moe” (Biden, Kamala, and I’m presuming Pelosi) needed to “go somewhere and sit down,” they claimed that the longer they were in charge, the more likely our country would go bankrupt.
As disgraceful as this was, it was at least as disgraceful to see Brody’s reaction. Did he call Cubic Zirconia and Burlap out? Did he cut off the interview? No! He asked them whether overthrowing Biden was necessary “from a national security standpoint.” Cubic Zirconia argued there was another reason—“to get to the bottom of what the American people saw in the 2020 election.” Burlap chimed in, claiming that the country was “under siege,” and “someone with common sense” needed to take over lest the country “go to hell in a handbasket.” Brody disgraced himself again by calling this tirade merely “the outcue of the segment.”
Like OANN and Newsmax, Real America’s Voice seems to be catering to those who think Fox News has become too squishy. But by allowing such outright seditious garbage on their airwaves, they have crossed a line. And Just the News’ claim that it’s “committed to just reporting facts" looks downright laughable if one of their apparent stars is allowing his guests to call for Biden to be overthrown.
I did some more digging, and it turns out Real America’s Voice is available on Dish Network, as well as on Pluto TV, Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV. It also has apps for Android and iPhone. Report them, please.
