These days the most depressing thing, that is not said or done by conservatives, is seeing everyone else complain how the American Maduro Drumpf has made his voters “believe” the election was stolen. Let’s be clear: NO ONE believes that. His supporters in primis. A Drumpf president is what they WANT. Big difference.
Few days ago they arrested a terrorist that attacked the Congress. He was the CEO OF A DATA ANALYTICS COMPANY. You tell me that someone whose career is based on DATA actually believes in such an absurdity?
You tell me that people who follow everything their doctors tell them when is GOOD FOR THEM, all of a sudden don’t believe them anymore when they tell them to do something they don’t like and would make Drumpf look bad?
That they are suddenly so gullible while being the champions of skepticism when it comes to denying climate change, which coincidentally affects mostly people in poor countries, coastal areas, or big cities (aka foreigners and liberals)?
That they’re for all sorts of laws and enforcement for the things they don’t like (drugs, immigration, democratic voters) but all of a sudden “laws don’t matter” when it comes to guns?
You can’t find someone less relatable to them than elitists born in the most liberal areas in the world, like Drumpf or Tucker Carson, and I should believe that they performed some mass Jedi mind trick on these voters?
Of course not. As these are NOT conspiracy theories. They are CONSPIRACIES. People that believe the earth is flat or in some extraterrestrial non-sense have nothing to gain from that. Drumpf supporters have something to gain.
The 2 most famous political mottos in my own country (the same as Machiavelli) come from Giulio Andreotti and explain perfectly what’s happening.
The first is: “Il potere logora chi non ce l’ha”, “Power wears down who doesn’t have it”. In the last 4 years Drumpf and Banana Republicans took a dump on every principle they pretended to believe in except for one: power at all cost. This is what is about, they know they’re a shrinking minority and can’t accept it. This research shows how Ethnic Antagonism is correlated with not trusting election.
The second is: “A pensar male degli altri si fa peccato ma spesso ci si indovina” (originally said by Pope Pio XI). It means that if you think others have bad intentions, you commit a sin but you’re often right.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that we all understand how this process works:
- “Election fraud” is a code, so when Drumpf says it, his people understand “ok, he wants to remain president anyway”, and when other GOP officials or voters say it, they understand there are many others who want to overturn democracy
- In the meantime, everyone else thinks that they just believe in election fraud and since there are laws and a constitution in place, they’re assured the result will hold and THEY WILL UNDERESTIMATE THE THREAT. Remember, Hitler got his power legally because the other parties didn’t think he was such an extremist.
- Finally, in their private lives, they can reduce the backlash from friends and relatives, because if Uncle Jack tells you that you have no rights and Drumpf should rule you anyway you might decide to never see him again but if you think he’s just brainwashed by some evil propaganda machine, you might still hang out with him. Even our justice system considers crime from lack of mental capacity less bad than from evil will.
So what can you do?
I learned at an early age, dealing with the communists in my home country, that is pointless to argue with dishonest people. I tried during the 2016 election cycle to argue with conservatives and I discovered they’re much worse because their hate is not just political. There is literally not a worse way to waste your time than trying to convince someone that voted for the Orange Maduro. As Stacey Abrams demonstrated, you need to convince EVERYONE ELSE, starting from people that don’t vote.
Like many, I volunteered for the first this time for a political campaign. As an introvert data guy, calling or texting wasn’t the best for me, but I eventually found something that suited me better, like Voter Protection in GA. If you want to Save America engage with the good people and don’t let the fascists fool you.
