I’d like us to take time some time out to congratulate our new Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen. On a 84-15 vote (with Marco Rubio “abstaining”), Yellen has been confirmed as the first woman ever to hold the position. The Washington Post here explains what she will have on her plate regarding the economy—and it will be a very full one: www.washingtonpost.com/….
That said, the article had this remark from the Grim Reaper (otherwise known as Mitch McConnell) about Democrats playing politics in delaying votes on cabinet nominees, thus displaying hypocrisy as one of his finer qualities:
McConnell voted to confirm Yellen but criticized Senate Democrats for their delay in confirming Trump’s treasury pick four years ago.
Hypocrisy and 15 Republican refusals to confirm her aside, I’m happy that the highly-accomplished, competent Yellen, the woman whose signature will someday be printed on our paper money, has been confirmed. And may there be many more great moments coming from a presidency that is truly working for all of us.
