I’ve just opened my quilting Etsy shop. Unique Quilts by Laura. Over the years, I’ve donated at least sixty quilts. Some to chemo patients. They get a quilt their first day of chemo, to keep them warm during treatment, and to keep forever. Recently, I gave fourteen quilts to the Caldor Fire Victims group and have donated many to other California fire victims the last couple of years.
I quilted the quilt that was made by the DK Quilt Guild that was auctioned for the Okiciyap Food Pantry and Youth Center. DKos raised $11,000 in donations and the auction! Okiciyap Facebook Link.
I made the quilt we gave to Sara R when she got her recent diagnosis. Waiting to hear how the recent surgery went. Sara R and winglion are my quilting sisters.
I donate at least two quilts a year to Saving Gracie. It’s a local foundation, run by a good friend, that helps pet owners get funding if they are not able to pay for their animals vet care. Here’s one that she’s getting for next years auction.
During the pandemic and being in lockdown I made lots of quilts. I also made many during 45’s tenure to keep my sanity. 1/4” seams are a good thing to focus on rather than letting gas-lighting, fear, and anger take over. Relate?
I have more quilts to donate but it’s time to sell some I read the “Quilters Last Will and Testament” and it’s a good idea not to leave a lot for your family to have to deal with. I’m taking that advice to heart!
Many of my quilts are quilted simply, using computer generated patterns. Some are custom quilted. It takes hours, up to days, to do the custom quilting.
Kaleidescope above is a custom quilted wall hanging. The one below I made during my wild and crazy days. Strips and Curves. A few are wall hangings ready with sleeves so rods can hold ‘em up!
Lap size quilts, bed size quilts, art wall hangings! Something for everyone. These are not grandma’s traditional quilts.
Maybe there’s something in my quilt shop you might like for you and yours as a snuggle quilt or a gift for the holidays. If not, please check out the Kos Katalogue! Here’s just one example — jewelry for women AND MEN!
Help out your fellow Kossacks who are small business owners. Thanks!!
