Former President Donald Trump is pushing a new conspiracy theory while demanding to be either reinstated as president or get a do-over election.
The United States Constitution does not allow for either option, but facts have never seemed to matter when it comes to Trump pushing his "Big Lie" of election fraud.
Trump thinks he deserves to be memorialized on Mt. Rushmore. After all he considers himself the smartest and the best president ever: Below from “The Smartest Person in the Room — President Donald Trump distorts the record to present himself as the best.”
Excerpt:
There was a time when presidents wanted to surround themselves with people who were as smart as or smarter than they were, including iconic leaders such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. They thought it was best for the country to recruit the best and the brightest, and they had the humility to acknowledge that they didn't have all the answers.
No more. President Donald Trump has made clear that he believes – and wants everyone else to accept – that he is always the smartest person in the room. This Trumpian hubris became evident, once again, at his Rose Garden news conference this week. It was, as usual, all about him as he trumpeted how well he is doing as president, how brilliantly he gets along with fellow Republicans in Congress, how his programs for tax reform and health care overhaul are masterstrokes. The problem was that his hyperbole sometimes went over the line into distortion and outright falsehood.
If this was true perhaps he’d deserve even more recognition than merely having a 60 high head carved into Mt. Rushmore. This may seem big but compared to other statues it isn’t. Let's see what the competition is.
None of the Mt. Rushmore statues even make the list of the world’s tallest statues (here). Compared to the 600 foot tall Stature of Unity which depicts Indian Statesman Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel the Rushmore statues are midgets, although in fairness if each president’s body was there they would be far taller. The next three on top of the list are of Buddha. Of the total of 138, about 32 are of Buddha.

There are 14 statues of Jesus. The most famous one in Rio is 130 feet and barely makes the list, 131 of 134.
My version of the world’s tallest statue as fantasized by Donald Trump. Adding an inch or two for the hat would make it the world’s tallest.
The height of the Statue of Liberty is 151 ft. from the top of the base to the torch. It is number 48 on the list. We’ll know that Trump may be souring on being president again if we hear that he’s trying to raise funds for a tall statute of himself to be constructed at Mar-a-Lago that would dwarf Lady Liberty. (Even with enough money the site is on the Register of Historic Places Reference and presumably under restrictive rules for development, plus the zoning laws of Palm Beach, could prevent it.)
Trump may have to be content with something like this imaginary 90 footer, which a satire site said Evangelicals built. It was supposed to be a golden Trump to be worshipped as a COVID19 cure. (Thanks to commenter skryalyx for pointing out I was fooled by a satirical site’s article and thought it was real.)
While I am sure Trump would be delighted to have his face carved into Mt. Rushmore he has given up on trying to make this happen as he did when White House aides contacted South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem in 2019 about the necessary process of adding another president to Mount Rushmore. See also Donald Trump's Mount Rushmore 'Joke' Goes Down As You'd Expect.
Now Trump has gone onto wanting to change something far more important than a national monument. He wants his own version to replace the original U.S. Constitution.
Here’s what he’d probably like displayed at The National Archives where the original Constitution would be replaced by the Trumpstitution.
